Secretary Priyank Bharti reviews wheat procurement
Administrative Secretary Priyank Bharti on Monday reviewed the wheat procurement operations in Ludhiana during the on-going Rabi season. He expressed satisfaction over the purchase and lifting operations in the district and said that more than 618013.5 metric tonnes (MTs) of wheat had been procured so far.
Ludhiana, April 29, 2024: Administrative Secretary Priyank Bharti on Monday reviewed the wheat procurement operations in Ludhiana during the on-going Rabi season. He expressed satisfaction over the purchase and lifting operations in the district and said that more than 618013.5 metric tonnes (MTs) of wheat had been procured so far.
Administrative Secretary Priyank Bharti told the officers to arrange the tarpaulins and make other arrangements in the markets to save the grains from inclement weather. He also held detailed deliberations on the status of the payments to the farmers.
Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney said that the district administration was committed to procuring every single food grain from the mandis and was taking every step to ensure instant purchase, payment, and lifting to facilitate the peasantry. She informed that the administration was closely monitoring the procurement exercise. Daily meetings were held to ensure a smooth completion of the season. She stated that 92 per cent of the arrived stock had been procured by the agencies, and payments worth Rs 1267.2 crores had also been made to the farmers.
Other officials present in the meeting included ADC (Urban Development) Rupinder Pal Singh, DFSCs Sanjay Sharma, Shaifali Chopra, DRO Gurwinder Singh, and others.
