Jalandhar: An online book launch event for Seema Jain's new collection of English Poems titled Silent Letters was organised jointly under the aegis of Litspark: A Literary Forum and JCI Josh Jalandhar. The international event was attended by many eminent personalities and stalwarts in the domain of English Literature and Hindi literature besides many other renowned people from other walks of life.
Among the Guests of Honour and distinguished guests were Dr Maja Herman Sekulic, Multiple Award Winning Serbian-American Writer from New York and a Global Poetry Icon; Prof (Dr) Atima Sharma Dwivedi Principal KMV, The Autonomous Heritage Institution, Jalandhar; Dr Jernail Singh Anand, Acclaimed Poet and Critic & Prof. Emeritus, European Institute of Roma Studies & Research Belgrade, Serbia; Dr Arindam Roy, Renowned Journalist & Poet, Founder & Editor-in-Chief, Different Truths, Dr Narendra Mohan, Eminent Hindi Poet, Playright & Critic; Dr Ajay Sharma, Renowned Hindi Novelist, Editor Sahitya Silsila and a Shiromani Hindi Sahitkar Awardee; Dr Prabhjot Parmar, Professor, Dept of English, University of Fraser Valley, Canada.
Speaking on the occasion, Poet Seema Jain quoted Pablo Neruda and Louise Gluck, the 1971 and 2020 Nobel prize awardees respectively for literature to highlight that poetry was as essential as breathing for a poet and also that good poetry should be able to survive the test of time. Principal Prof (Dr) Atima Sharma said that poets are like intellectual police for the world and Seema Jain through her book has carved a unique world of intellectual creativity. Dr Jernail Singh Anand described Seema Jain's poetry as a confluence of many worlds and also highlighted her poems' focus on the difficult destiny of being a woman in a patriarchal world.
Dr Sachin Khullar on behalf of JCI Josh Jalandhar complimented Seema Jain for her book launch. Dr Prabhjot Parmar averred that Seema Jain through her poems compels the reader to confront recent memories and think of the “Tired of want and deprivation” migrants leaving cities that “Did not offer them shelter. She also talked of how the intertwining of language and vivid imagery reveal these exceptional pandemic times as vignettes that resonate with the reader on multiple levels. Dr Ajay Sharma lauded Seema Jain as a bilingual poet and dwelt upon her commitment to writing, her excellent use of symbols, images and metaphors in her poems.Guests of Honour Dr Narendra Mohan from Delhi and Dr Maja Herman Sekulic from New York who could not join and Sh Ram Kishore Mehta, a reputed novelist, poet and playwright from Ahmedabad sent their best wishes and comments through video messages.
Dr Renu Gupta Gen Sec Litspark, Ms Mohini Sharda Vice President Litspark, Ms Satinder Kaur Jt Sec Litspark and Ms Anukiran Khanna Executive Member Litspark presented incisive critical reviews of the book Silent Letters, analysing various thematic aspects and stylistic features of the book. Prof Neeraj Jain and Ms Mohini Jain congratulted the poet Seema Jain on her book launch. Ms Neetu Vaid Sharma President JCI Josh Jalandhar, a noted poet and Executive Member Litspark, beautifully anchored the entire programme.
