Talwandi Sabo, July 10, 2014: Community Policing Resource Centre ‘Saanjh’, Bathinda held a seminar against Drug-Addiction at the campus of Guru Kashi University, Talwandi Sabo. Amar Singh Chahal, DIG Bathinda was the Chief Guest. Satish Goswami, Registrar, Dr Narinder Singh, Director (Finance) & other officers of the university welcomed the Chief Guest. In his welcome address, Goswami appreciated the efforts of the Punjab Police to eradicate drug-addiction from the state. He stated that 70% of Punjab Youth was the victim of this evil which is eating into the vitals of our young generation.
Jaskaran Singh Sivia Head Sewadar, ‘Nasha Mukti Gurmat Parchand Lahar’, addressing the huge gathering of villagers, very lucidly dwelt upon the colossal damage that drug addiction is causing to the State of Punjab.
In his keynote address, Amar Singh Chahal, DIG stated that no doubt problem has assumed alarming proportions but it is not difficult to eradicate it, the work should start from the grass root level. The people have developed a habit of doing work in an inebriated condition. The old houses in villages are on the brink of collapse. The villages can’t renovate them for want of money. Let us learn a lesson from migrant labour which works for hours together without taking drugs. Many families have been ruined & may lives have been lost because of drugs. Concluding he urged upon audience to take a pledge to keep aloof from Drugs & Drug-traders.
