SEMINAR ON "BETI BACHAO BETI PADHAO" SCHEME ORGANISED

Ludhiana, March 30, 2019: A seminar on "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao" scheme was organised by the Health, Women and Child Welfare Department at Civil Hospital, here on Friday. Deputy Commissioner Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal was the chief guest on the occasion, while Civil Surgeon Dr Parvinderpal Singh Sidhu presided over this seminar. While addressing the gathering, Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal stated that it is because of seminars like these, that people have been made aware about female foeticide and this social evil is on the decline and the sex ratio of girls is increasing. He said that it becomes our duty to honour the girl child so that our society can prosper. The Chief Guest also honoured the officials of Health, Women and Child Welfare Department, who have worked hard for promoting this social cause. On this occasion, Dr Rajinder Gulati and Dr Harjit Singh spoke about various initiatives being stated to check female foeticide. The nursing students also presented a skit showing equality amongst boys and girls. A short film on this issue was also telecast. District Family Welfare Officer Dr SP Singh, SMO Dr Geeta also spoke on the occasion. Prominent among those present on the occasion included District Programme Officer Mrs Rupinder Kaur, SMO's, MO's, LHV's, ANM's, Asha Workers, CDPO, besides several others.
