Seminar to Commemorate 550th Birth Anniversary Guru Nanak Dev Ji

Chandigarh, December 5, 2018: Department of Guru Nanak Sikh Studies Panjab University Chandigarh is organizing a Two Day International Seminar in collaboration with Chandigarh Sahitya Akademi. The Seminar aims at disseminating Guru Nanak Dev’s message of Global fraternity and egalitarian social order in connection with the commemoration of 550th Birth Anniversary of the great Master.
Prof.Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor of the University will be the Chief Guest in the seminar and Bhai Gobind Singh Ji Longowal, President of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak, Committee will also join to address the audience. Prof. Sarbjinder Singh, Head, Guru Granth Sahib Studies Department Punjabi University Patiala will deliver the Key-Note Address on this occasion while the Presidential Address will be delivered by Dr. Jaspal Singh, Former Vice Chancellor Punjabi University Patiala besides two books, “Contribution of Guru Gobind Singh to Indian Society and Culture” and “Guru Gobind Singh Kaav Gungan” will also be released on this occasion.
Dr. Gurinder Singh Mann, Director Global Institute of Sikh Studies, New York, Dr. Roop Singh, Chief Secretary Shiromani Gurdwara, Parbandhak, Committee and Dr. Satish Kumar Verma from Punjabi University, Patiala will be among the special guests to grace the occasion.
The Two day International Seminar will focus on the multi-disciplinary perspectives of knowledge. In particular, it shall provide a common platform for coming together of Historical, Philosophical, Theological, literary and cultural; social and psychological perspectives to provide valuable insights on the theme of the seminar. In all, more than 50 papers will be presented by the eminent speakers from different parts of the country as Dr. Balkar Singh, Dr. Paramveer Singh, Dr. Gurmeet Singh Sidhu, Dr. Sukhdial Singh, Dr. Gurnam Singh, Dr. Swaraj Singh, Dr. Sukhdev Singh, Dr. Amritpal Kaur,Dr. Ronki Ram, Dr. Jasbir Kaur, Dr. Gurmeet Mann, Dr. Kamaljit Kaur etc. Apart from this, research scholars from various Universities and research institution shall be presenting research papers.
The two days international seminar shall have Prof. B.S. Ghuman, Vice Chancellor Punjabi University, Patiala as the chief guest. Dr. Tarlochan Singh, Former M.P and Dr. Shankarji Jha, DUI, Panjab University shall also grace the occasion. The Valedictory address shall be delivered by Dr. Gurinder Singh Mann, Director Global Institute of Sikh Studies, New York.
