Seminar cum hands-on-training program on theme of ‘Apiculture and Nutritional Gardening’
Lyallpur Khalsa College organised the event
Jalandhar: The scientific ethos of Lyallpur Khalsa College came to the forefront when Zoology and Botany Departments collaborated to organize EPOCH-2020 seminar cum hands-on-training program on the theme of ‘Apiculture and Nutritional Gardening'.
Dr Amandeep Kaur, Assistant Professor (Vegetable Sciences) was joined by Dr. Suman Kumari, Assistant Professor Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kapurthala as the main orators.
College Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra and Prof. Jaswinder Kaur, Head of the Life Sciences Department, welcomed the dignitaries with a bouquet of flowers.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra highlighted the productivity of the institution in the field of life sciences and the relevance of such events to research and innovations.
Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra also inaugurated the newly installed Nutritional Garden in the college campus and highlighted the need for organic farming and productivity as the dire need of the polluted hour.
In her address, Dr. Suman Kumari discussed the various facets of Apiculture and the contribution of honey bees to the planet earth.
Dr Amandeep Kaur informed about the vastly open field and area of study and research concerning Nutritional Gardening and its increasing relevance as a part of the healthy diet for humans.
Vote of thanks on this occasion was presented by Dr. Upma Arora with a vow to continue such efforts on similar themes much to the usefulness of this subject and its students.
The program was also observed by Prof. Gagandeep Kaur, Dr. Heminder Singh, Prof. Sarabjit Singh, Prof. Gurjinder Kaur and Prof. Devika Gandhi.
