Jalandhar, February 4, 2015: Department of Zoology of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya organised Seminar-cum-Workshop on ‘Cardiovascular diseases in women, its prevention and treatment’. 

The resource persons were Dr.Anurag Sharma, Cardiologist, Max Hospital, Mohali and Rama Mehta, Diet Therapist, Mumbai. 

Principal Dr.Rekha Kalia Bhardwaj welcomed the guests.  She said that women should be more conscious towards their health. 

Dr. Anurag Sharma, Cardiologist said that sometimes our lifestyle and diet factors lead to heart failure.  He also gave a presentation on women health.  He discussed the symptoms of heart disease, the chances to remain away from risk factors of diabetes and hypertension.  Diet Therapist Rama Mehta said that fatty food intake should be checked to avoid diseases.  She said that better eating habits should be chosen with different combinations of foods. 

The workshop in the Department of Zoology tested students for various symptoms, preliminary test, checking of body weight, height, blood pressure. 

Principal Dr. Rekha Kalia Bhardwaj appreciated the efforts of Zoology Department for arranging such seminars. 

On this occasion, Head of Zoology Department Kiranjit Kaur, Dr. Seema Marwaha, Ashu, Gurvinder, Avantika and Gulshan were also present.
