Seminar on awareness regarding plastic pollution
Jalandhar, October 18, 2021: Social Sensitization cell of Lyallpur Khalsa College organized a seminar on Awareness regarding Plastic pollution. Seminar was conducted in collaboration with ‘Action Group Against Plastic pollution (AGAPP), NGO based in Jalandhar. The Resource person of this seminar was Ms. Pallavi Khanna, founding member and Vice President of AGAPP. Students of all streams attended the seminar with full zeal and enthusiasm. Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra welcomed the guest and inspired everyone not to use plastic bags in any way so that we can save our earth and environment from vast destruction. Ms. Pallavi Khanna, emphasized on the fact that plastic pollution is leading to vast destruction of our earth. Talking about Ghazipur Dump mountain, she discussed the harmful effects of this pollution on the human and animal lives. Residents of nearby areas often face breathing problems. Several marine species are on the verge of extinction because of such type of pollution. Plastic pollution is major contributor of global warming. She also discussed the solution of problem by adopting 3 Rs’ i.e. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Prof. Jasreen Kaur, Dean Academic, also motivated students to say ‘No to plastic bags’. Prof. Amita Shahid (Convener of Social Sensitization Cell), Dr. Ubiqe Bedi, Dr. Patwant Atwal, Dr. Jaswinder Kaur, Dr. Manmeet Sodhi, Prof. Manish Goel and Mr. Gurwant Singh Atwal (Member of AGAPP) graced the occasion with their presence.
