Seminar on Drug De-addiction held in Doaba College
NGO Satyamev Jayate Society in collaboration with Doaba College organised a seminar entitled Drug De-addiction. Renowned alumni- Pankaj Sarpal- President, Satyamev Jayate Society, Kapil Bhatia- Chairman grace the occasion as resource person, Gagan Arora- Vice President, and Puneet Thukral- Joint Secretary, Neeraj, Gourav Vij and Amit as Guests of Honour. The dignitaries were accorded a hearty welcome by Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari, Prof. Sandeep Chahal- Event Coordinator, Staff and 90 students.

While welcoming the guests, Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari said that it is a matter of pride that renowned alumni of the college are doing great social service to the society by creating awareness against drugs through their humanitarian NGO Satyamev Jayate Society for the past many years. Dr. Bhandari said that students can take inspiration from the lives of these renowned Government Officials and entrepreneurs who are consistently creating awareness in school and colleges through there Say No to Drugs Campaign.
Prof. Sandeep Chahal said that these renowned alumni of the college Sh. Pankaj Sarpal- EPFO Official, Sh. Kapil Bhatia- Ex Enforcement Directorate officer cum Entrepreneur, Gagan Arora- Entrepreneur- Om Trading Company and Puneet Thukral- Ace National Table Tennis Player and Entrepreneur will definitely inspire and guide students to setup small start up entrepreneur models in Jalandhar.
Pankaj Sarpal said that as per the Data Base of Govt. of India 13 to 16 years youth of the country are alcohol addicts and Govt. of India banned E-cigerettes rates and flavored hookahs in 2019 so as to keep the Youth of India away from these fatal addictions. He said as per the report of Punjab Police 18 percent of road accident take place in Punjab due to rash driving under alcohol consumptions. He said sadly nearly 90 percent of educated populace of Punjab consume drugs or alcohol. He said that Satyamev Jayate Society has been running Say No To Drugs awareness campaign throughout the state to motivate the youth to shun and avoid drugs. Kapil Bhatia discussed in detail about various types of drugs like alcohol, opioids, Cannabis, Tobacco etc. He talked about the efforts of Punjab Govt. of setting up Drug De-addictions centre throughout Punjab out of which 37 such centres are in Jalandhar. Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari and Prof. Sandeep Chahal honoured renowned alumni- Pankaj Sarpal, Kapil Bhatia, Gagan Arora and Puneet Thukral with mementos.
