Seminar on “Entrepreneurship Awareness Program”
In order to celebrate the spirit of Atma Nirbhar Bharat during the Seva Saptah, University Institute of Applied Management Sciences under the able guidance of Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor organized a seminar on “Entrepreneurship Awareness Program”.
Chandigarh, September 23, 2022: In order to celebrate the spirit of Atma Nirbhar Bharat during the Seva Saptah, University Institute of Applied Management Sciences under the able guidance of Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor organized a seminar on “Entrepreneurship Awareness Program”. The esteemed keynote speakers were Sh. Kundan Lal Singh, Assistant Director, MSME-DFO Ludhiana; Ms. Mandeep Kaur Tangra, CEO, Simbha Quartz; Sh. Jatinder Singh, MD, M/S Endico Power Tools; Shri Hari Singh, LDM, Punjab National Bank, Chandigarh; Ms. Vijayta Sharma, Manager Food & Technology, Department of Industries, Chandigarh Administration. The seminar was conducted in the august presence of Shri Virinder Sharma, Director MSME- DFO, Ludhiana and the chief guest for the event, Prof. Harish Kumar, Panjab University.
The seminar was coordinated by the Entrepreneur and Corporate Relation Cell of UIAMS under the guidance of Prof. Monika Aggarwal, Director UIAMS and Dr. Manu Sharma, Faculty Co-ordinator ECRC Cell.
The seminar commenced with a welcome address conferred by Dr. Manu Sharma after which Sh. Kundan Lal Singh, addressed the students highlighting the purpose, importance and the objectives of this seminar and how he hoped it would leave a positive impact on the students, raise awareness amongst them about Entrepreneurship, various schemes of government which enable and support entrepreneurs .
Mandeep Kaur Tangra was the next to address, as she walked the students through her Entrepreneurial journey, the challenges she faced and shed light on the key aspects of Simba Quartz’s business model. Emphasising on the ‘Why’ aspect of the business, she asked the students to figure out their mission, vision, purpose of the entrepreneurship venture they want to start and did so by giving an example of Simba Quartz whose mission is ‘Changing lives,’ and the progression, creation of jobs in her native village.
Taking on the baton, Jatinder Singh walked the students through his Entrepreneurial journey, and reiterated that it was essential to know the purpose, drive behind establishing a business. He also highlighted the importance of Brand Building, Customer Dealing, Satisfaction by citing an example of his joint venture Endico Power Tools.
Hari Singh then educated the students about various Financial Schemes of the government to support entrepreneurs. He talked about various sources of finance, different types and categories of loans and how to avail them.
Vijayta Sharma acquainted the students about the initiative of Ministry of Food Processing Industry (MoFPI) and the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme under which financial assistance, capacity building training etc. is provided.
Virinder Sharma delivered the final address where he highlighted some important skills and qualities of the entrepreneurs- passion, determination, self-motivation and he hoped that the students would come up with great ideas and utilise the ecosystem which the government was providing to aid self-employment & entrepreneurship.
A doubt clearing question-answer session marked as the last activity of the webinar and it was concluded with a vote of thanks for the key speakers for taking out time to share their valuable knowledge with the students.
