Jalandhar, April 28, 2022: Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar is committed for the overall development of its students. In this regard, a seminar was organized to make them aware about their legal rights and free legal aid under Alternative Dispute Redressal System.
This seminar was organized by Grievances Redressal Cell, N.S.S. Unit, Legal Aid Club and Social Sensitization Cell in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority, Jalandhar. Chief Guest, Ms. Sonal Nanda, advocate at district courts, Jalandhar, was welcomed by worthy Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra and conveners of organizing units. Principal Dr. Samra in his address advised the students to be updated about their legal rights and duties as well. He also appreciated the efforts of organizers to plan such fruitful seminar.
Advocate Ms. Sonal Nanda in her address explained the concept of legal aid, eligibility of beneficiaries, and also informed the procedure of availing free aid. She elaborated ADRS in simple terms. She added that when both parties come to ADRS for justice, the justice is expedited and binding. Ms. Nanda urged the students to take the benefit of the free legal aid and make others aware about free legal aid.
Later, Dr. S.S. Bains informed the functioning of LKC Legal Aid Club. Dr. Manmeet Sodhi conducted the stage and presented the vote of thanks. During this event, Prof. Jasreen Kaur, Dean Academic Affairs, Dr. Gagandeep Kaur, convener Grievances Redressal Cell, Dr. S.S. Bains, incharge Legal Aid Club, Dr. Amita Shahid convener Social Sensitization Cell, Prof. Satpal Singh, Chief Program officer, N.S.S. and Prof. Arunjit Kaur, Prof. Jaswinder Kaur, Prof. Navdeep Kaur and students were present.
