Seminar on use and abuse of drugs to be held

Chandigarh: Society for Promotion of Ethical & Affordable health Care, SPEAK India in collaboration with Press Club Chandigarh is organizing a panel discussion on the theme of ‘Use and Abuse of Drugs' at Press Club, Sector 27, Chandigarh on February 28.
On this occasion, Justice Pritampal will be the Guest of Honor. The panel discussion will start from 11 am onwards, which will be held by the eminent speakers Dr. S.K.Jindal, Dr. Shankar Prinja, Dr. C.S Gautam, Harvinder Khetal, Namish Sodhi and Ajit Chatha IAS, former Chief Secretary of Government of Punjab.
Dr. R.Kumar, President of SPEAK India said, “The discussions will focus on the fact that most ill-health conditions are preventable and that much of the use of drugs is avoidable. We want to involve media persons and civil society to curb the ever-increasing abuse of drugs like antibiotics, pain killers, vitamins and anxiolytics.”
He added that according to the basis of the discussion of SPEAK India seminar, we will send recommendations to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO ) and Union Health Ministry to regulate the quality and prices of all drugs so that every citizen can afford patient- care at the time of need.
He further added, “We will also caution about the avoidable exploitation of medical resources by the patients and doctors. It will also familiarize the audience with revamped and upgraded website of SPEAK Health India for public health education.”
