Seminar on prostate and urinary problems

Ludhiana, April 22, 2019: Aykai Hospital and PUPS (prostate & urinary problem support society) organized the seminar on prostate & urinary problem with more than 100 families of Senior Citizen's Welfare Association Ludhiana in Rotary Club, Ludhiana. Mr.Balbir Singh (President) & Mr.S.P Karkara (Chairman) of Senior Citizen's Welfare Association welcomed the key note speaker, renowned urologist & transplant surgeon, Medical expert for PUPS, Director of Aykai Hospital Dr.Baldev Singh Aulakh. Dr.B.S Aulakh told the senior citizens that one million persons get prostate cancer every year and everyone is likely to get urinary problems during one’s life time. Fifty percent of men after 50 years of age develop enlargement of prostate which requires thorough check up to rule out cancer and then may be treated with medicine, endoscopic ( TURP) or laser . Prostate cancer, if detected early by simple blood test (PSA) can be completely cured. Similarly, Some of signs & symptoms through with one can find kidney problems, urinary infections and prostate problems are: • Interruption in urine • Urgency frequency of urine especially at night • Weak urinary stream • Discomfort, pain or burning when urinating • Stoppage of urine • Blood in Urine which is serious and might signal cancer of kidney or bladder Dr. Aulakh also told that each kidney stone is different in composition and location in human body in different patients, hence treatment can be different and not the same in two patients. Sometimes patient with kidney stone doesn’t feel pain or irritation. Hence are silent killers. Stones do not let the fluids to pass and it causes the kidney enlargement which further damages the kidney and the only solution people are left with is Dialysis or Kidney Transplant. Dr. Aulakh advised for regular kidney and prostate health checkups done especially if there is family history by simple blood and urine tests.
