Dharamshala, August 25, 2024: Senior BJP leader and former Speaker of the Assembly, Vipin Singh Parmar, has strongly criticized the current Congress-led government in Himachal Pradesh for its handling of employee and pensioner issues.
Parmar, who is also the in-charge of Kangra-Chamba BJP and the MLA for Sulaha, accused the government of financial mismanagement and failing to uphold the rights of state employees and pensioners.
Parmar highlighted that during the previous BJP administration, which governed despite significant challenges such as the economic crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic, employee salaries were always paid on time, and there were no delays in disbursing dearness allowance (DA) or arrears. He contrasted this with the current situation under the Congress government, where he claims that salaries are delayed, and DA and arrears are not being paid despite being announced. Additionally, he pointed out that medical reimbursements have not been processed for two years, leaving a liability running into crores of rupees.
Expressing his support for the demands of employees and pensioners, Parmar condemned the state government for what he described as exploitation. "Employees and pensioners across all categories are being forced to protest on the streets, while the youth, already frustrated with the government's policies, are also staging demonstrations," he said. Parmar also criticized the government's decision to freeze new recruitments and halt routine competitive examinations, further exacerbating the situation.
Parmar contrasted the current unrest with the situation during the BJP's tenure, asserting that under BJP rule, employee organizations never had to resort to protests to have their demands met. He also criticized the Congress government for reversing many of the public welfare measures implemented during the BJP's time in power, while simultaneously increasing taxes and other financial burdens on the citizens.
