Senior citizen Dr Satish Kumar Thaman highlights civic issues in larger public interest

Ludhiana: Senior citizen Dr Satish Kumar Thaman, a resident of Rishi Nagar, Ludhiana has written to Minister for Local Government, Punjab Brahm Mohindra highlighting certain civic issues in the larger public interest.
He has expressed concern over the fact that the local authorities are failing in dealing with the nuisance of over flowing of sewerage particularly in view of the rainy season. He has suggested to use of super suction techniques, use of desilting and jetting machines etc to clear potholes and water logging on the urgent need.
He has also suggested that there is need to clear sewerage from Balloke Sewerage Treatment Plant by starting regular operation of all motors for 15 hours on daily basis with addition to install more electric motors on the job.
He has further suggested to provide rain harvesting outlets in every 500 sq meter area in all parts of 256 acres Trust Scheme Area and in Wards No. 78 and 77 of Municipal Corporation Ludhiana, in order to avoid blockage of rain water on main roads of area location.
He has stated that there is an urgent need to raise height of Panj Peer Road ground level, backside road PAU Area location by opening of main road Panj Peer Road to inside area towards Ferozepur Road, Ludhiana.
He has also urged to clear blockage of sewerage due to covid-19 to control spreading of water borne disease like dengue, malaria and chikungunya.
He has stated that SEs from the government departments such as Punjab Sewerage Board, Municipal Corporation, Improvement Trust Ludhiana, PUDA/GLADA must coordinate efforts to use super section technique, desilting machine and jetting machine by utilising services of technocrats on this issue.
Dr Thaman has stated that there is an urgent need to clear rain water harvesting points on all main road to control blockage of sewerage and erection of more new rain harvesting water points.
