Session on Investment Opportunities in Canada held 

Ludhiana, March 12, 2022: PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry organized an Interactive session on Investment Opportunities in Ontario, Canada on 8 March 2022 at PHD House, Chandigarh to discuss business & investment opportunities available in Ontario, Canada and facilitate outward investments of Industry members interested in expanding their business to Ontario, Canada.
 
Members of the Visiting Delegation included Digvijay Mehra, Managing Director & Consul (Mumbai)-Trade, Consulate General of Canada; Kapil Malhotra, Trade Commissioner, New Delhi Trade & Investment Office; Sukhmani Kang, Trade Commissioner Assistant, Consulate General of Canada.
 
R S Sachdeva, Chair, Punjab State Chapter and MD of Hitech Industries Ltd., welcomed the Trade Commissioners and introduced them to all of the esteemed Industry representatives in attendance. He briefed the delegation on the activities and operations of the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry and shared the corporate video of the Chamber and illuminated the PITEX Trade Fair organized by PHD Chamber.

Digvijay Mehra, provided an overview of the Business Opportunities for Punjab Industries in various industrial sectors in Ontario, Canada. He stated that through NAFTA, businesses expanding to Ontario can gain access to markets throughout the United States. This trade would also pave the way for Canadian companies to establish facilitation centres in India.
 
Issues discussed included, scope of Bicycle and Tractor Parts Manufacturing in Canada and how it can be facilitated in its establishment; Business opportunities for Plywood industry in British Columbia and Ontario; outsourcing of IT services for Ontario-based businesses; Meat processing plants; providing services to differently abled & elder care and support extended by Canadian Government to Startups.

Gurmeet Singh Kular Member Managing Committee PHD Chamber discussed the scope of the bicycle industry over there, as USA & Canada are huge markets for the High-End Bicycles, and Indian industry if facilitated can cater not only Canada but America too.
 
Sachdeva proposed organizing PITEX Fair in Canada, as well as inviting a business delegation from Canada to Punjab through Indo Canada Chamber of Commerce during PITEX Fair scheduled for December 2022.
