Setting stage for sustainable future in India's Sugar and Biofuels Industry

Hyderabad, September 10, 2024: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) unveiled the 9th edition of the Green Sugar Summit 2024, scheduled for 10th and 11th September at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC). Themed "Making Indian Sugar & Biofuels Industry World Class in Green," this summit will focus on advancing sustainability and innovation within the sector.

The summit commenced with a welcome & theme address by Gaurav Goel, Chairman of the Green Sugar Summit 2024 and Managing Director of Dhampur Sugar Mills Limited. “We are excited to host the CII Green Sugar Summit 2024 and provide a platform for industry leaders to collaborate on sustainable solutions,” said Gaurav Goel. “Biogas is an opportunity for sugar mills and it will be a big game changer in the future.”

Roshan Lal Tamak, Vice Chairman of the Green Sugar Summit 2024 and Executive Director & CEO – Sugar Business at DCM Shriram Ltd., offered insights into trends and strategies for advancing sustainability in the sugar sector. “Purchasing electricity will increase the cost of production of sugar,” stated Mr. Tamak. “The scope of energy conservation is very high for the sugar sector.”

The summit will feature sessions on green technologies, sustainability practices, and future trends in the sugar and biofuels industries. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with thought leaders, participate in interactive discussions, and explore cutting-edge advancements.

The Green Sugar Summit 2024 is being organised in tandem with the 23rd CII Energy Efficiency Summit. The event will be followed by the 25th CII National Energy Awards for Excellence in Energy Management where the top manufacturing units and commercial buildings in India will present & showcase their technical & managerial expertise in energy efficiency and energy management.
