Setting up of Tata Steel Project in Ludhiana a big move for overall growth of state: Arora
MP (Rajya Sabha) Sanjeev Arora was among those dignitaries present on Groundbreaking Ceremony of Tata Steel Ludhiana Project at Kadian Khurd Village, near here on Friday. Punjab chief minister, Bhagwant Mann was the chief guest at this ceremony.
Ludhiana, October 20, 2023: MP (Rajya Sabha) Sanjeev Arora was among those dignitaries present on Groundbreaking Ceremony of Tata Steel Ludhiana Project at Kadian Khurd Village, near here on Friday. Punjab chief minister, Bhagwant Mann was the chief guest at this ceremony.
In a statement here after attending the ceremony, Arora hoped that the project will prove a boon for economy of whole of Punjab. He said the project is being set up at a cost of around Rs.3000 Crores, which will give direct employment to more than 2,000 people, mainly youth. He said the project is coming up on about 115 acres of land near Cycle Valley in Ludhiana.
Arora said an MoU for the project was signed for the project 14 months ago. He strongly lauded the state government for granting all the required permissions speedily. As a result, the groundbreaking and Bhoomi pujan ceremonies were possible to be held today. He hoped that the overall scenario of the surrounding areas would change after completion of the project.
Further, Arora said this was the second largest unit of Tata Steel across the country after its steel plant at Jamshedpur. It is hoped that the plant will start functioning in the next 20 months.
He said the most important thing is this coming steel plant will produce steel from scrap without any pollution. A new and unique technology will be used to run this plant to make this steel plant environment friendly. He hoped that this steel plant would lead to the setting up of subsidiary units in the surrounding areas. And in the coming period this area will become another big industrial hub of the state, he said.
Arora said this steel plant is coming up with the sincere and concrete efforts of Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann.
During Groundbreaking Ceremony among others Tata Steels MD TV Narendran and Chanakya Chaudhry VP Corporate Services of Tata Steel, Principal Secretary Industries Department Punjab Tejveer Singh were present.
