Seven days Special NSS Camp commences at GHSC-10

A seven day special NSS camp commenced at Government Home Science College, Chandigarh today under the able guidance of worthy Principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal. As many as 100 NSS volunteers enrolled themselves for the camp held from October 9-15. The Chief Guest for the inaugural ceremony was Dr.Parveen Goyal, Programme Co-ordinator, NSS, Panjab University, Chandigarh and the Guest of Honour was Dr.Sonia Sharma, PO from Panjab University, Chandigarh.

Chandigarh, October 9, 2024: A seven day special NSS camp commenced at Government Home Science College, Chandigarh today under the able guidance of worthy Principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal. As many as 100 NSS volunteers enrolled themselves for the camp held from October 9-15. The Chief Guest for the inaugural ceremony was Dr.Parveen Goyal, Programme Co-ordinator, NSS, Panjab University, Chandigarh and the Guest of Honour was Dr.Sonia Sharma, PO from Panjab University, Chandigarh.

The event started with the lamp lighting ceremony. Dr. Parveen introduced NSS volunteers regarding the objectives of NSS with an aim to inculcate social welfare among them and further motivated them to provide service to society without any bias. Dr.Goyal in his concluding lines highlighted about the benefits of being a NSS Volunteer at national as well as international level.

Furthermore, Dr. Sonia Sharma oriented the students about registration process on My Bharat Portal along with its significance. In the second half of the day, with an aim to contribute significantly to the nation-wide campaign of ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’, volunteers conducted a cleanliness drive in the college. Volunteers made an effort to clean the campus area and the surroundings. The plastic collected was disposed off safely by the volunteers.  

Principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal reminded the volunteers about the motto of the National Service Scheme “Not Me, But You” in sync with the college motto “Knowledge for Service”. She further emphasised on the significance of organising such camps and highlighted the role of youth as powerful change agents of the society and motivated them to strive for excellence and encouraged the volunteers for maximum participation throughout the camp.
