Chandigarh, May 16, 2024: The Department of Statistics at Panjab University, Chandigarh, commenced a "Seven Days Workshop on Data Analysis using SPSS" on Thursday.
The workshop, scheduled from May 16 to May 22, 2024 including Saturday and Sunday, has drawn about 30 participants which includes Faculty members and research scholars from Panjab University and neighboring institutes, Doctors from PGIMER and GMCH Sector 32, Chandigarh. The participants are from Chandigarh and neighboring states such as Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh. Moreover they are from diverse disciplines such as Arts, Science, Management, Education, Engineering and Medicine. The workshop’s primary objective is to familiarize attendees with data handling techniques for research. Designed to provide an understanding of statistical tools and their application using SPSS software, the workshop offers hands-on experience to participants.
Highlighting the workshop’s significance, Prof. Narinder Kumar, Chairperson and Coordinator of the Department of Statistics, Panjab University, emphasized that the global research market's size reflects the vast potential and opportunities in research beyond teaching. These days Statistics discipline is playing an important role in all the fields of study.
The sessions of the workshop are divided into two parts: theory and practical to give hands on experience to participants of Statistics starting from introduction to descriptive statistics, graphs, correlation and regression, parametric and non-parametric tests, logistic regression, cluster analysis, factor analysis, discriminant analysis, ANCOVA, MANOVA and MANCOVA using SPSS software. Whichever statistical concept will be discussed in the theory, it will shown by executing practically on SPSS software to give clear understanding of the concept.
