Seventh inter college annual athletic meet 2018 held at Guru Kashi University, Talwandi Sabo

Talwandi Sabo, February 16, 2018: To inculcate the spirit of sportsmanship among the students, Guru Kashi University (GKU) conducted its 7th Annual Athletics Meet, today. It was inaugurated by S. Sanyam Aggarwal, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Bathinda –cum- Chief Administrator, Bathinda Development Authority (BDA). He congratulated the University for holding its Annual Inter Athletic Meet regularly and encouraged the students to participate in all the events with vigour and vitality as sports play constructive role in their lives. The sportsmanship in an individual prepares one to meet the challenges in life, he said.
S. Gurlabh Singh Sidhu, Chairman, GKU and S. Sukhraj Singh Sidhu, Managing Director, GKU were the Guests of Honour. The Chairman motivated the students to follow discipline in whatever they did in life as it was much needed than ever before. He added that devotion, dedication, diligence, determination and discipline were the vital ingredients to be successful in life. Playgrounds teach this all and student life is the right age to learn this, he observed.
Twelve colleges of the University participated in the event. Students participated in various field events that include 100m, 400m Race, Long Jump, High Jump, Relay Race, Jevlin Throw, and Discus Throw. Suresh Kumar (Physical Education College) and Malkit Kaur (Physical College) were adjudged the best athletes.
The attraction of the event was colorful March Past by contingents of various participating Colleges of GKU. The Best March Past team was College of Physical Education and the Second Position was won by College of Agriculture. The Army Band added color and melody to the programme.
Dr. (Col.) B.S. Dhaliwal, Vice Chancellor (GKU) inspired students saying, “Sports foster team spirit among the students and make them disciplined”. Many dignitaries including Principal S. Raghubir Singh, Dr. Jagtar Singh Dhiman Registrar GKU, Dr. Narinder Singh Director Finance, GKU were present in the event. The Meet concluded with the felicitation of winners with Medals. The programme concluded with the singing of National Anthem and lowering of University Flag.
