Shaheed Rakesh Singh cremated with full state and military honours

Dharamsala, February 12, 2022: 26-year-old Shaheed Rakesh Singh who was martyred in high-altitude Kameng region of Arunachal Pradesh after being struck by an avalanche on February 6, was cremated with full state and military honours on Saturday in his native village Lower Maheshgarh of Baijnath Mandal in Kangra district.
Forest Youth Services and Sports Minister Rakesh Pathania, Baijnath MLA Mulkh Raj Premi, Wool Federation President Trilok Kapoor, Deputy Commissioner Kangra Dr Nipun Jindal, SDM Baijnath Salim Azam, Army officers and large number of people paid tribute and attended the cremations.
Earlier, the Forest Minister met the bereaved family and expressed his condolences and informed them about the government's decision of renaming Kendral-Maheshgarh-Gawaltikkar road after the name of martyr Rakesh Singh. He issued orders to the department to complete all the formalities for it.
