Chandigarh, October 21, 2022: Centre for Police Administration, Panjab University, Chandigarh organized ‘Shaheedon Ko Naman’ to mark the Police Commemoration Day today.

The event began with the arrival of Guest of Honour Prof. Jagtar Singh, Dean Students Welfare, Panjab University at the Centre. Prof. Anil Monga, Chairperson, Centre for Police Administration while welcoming the guests traced the history of Police Commemoration Day and said that on 21st October, 1959, a patrol party of CRPF was ambushed by the Chinese Army in Hot Springs, Ladakh, in which 10 police personnel were martyred. Since then this day is commemorated to pay homage to the police martyrs. He highlighted that the purpose of today’s event is to create awareness and sensitize the students towards the sacrifices being made by the Police force. Prof. Jagtar Singh, Dean Students Welfare, Panjab University was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. He led the Faculty, Research Scholars, Students and office staff of the Centre in paying homage to police martyrs by offering the flowers. It was followed by observing two minutes silence by all present.

The event was attended by Prof. Rajat Sandhir, Professor & Fellow, P.U., Prof. Monica Munjial, Professor, Centre for Social Work, P.U., Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Assistant Professor, Centre for Police Administration, P.U., Dr. Upneet Kaur Mangat, Chairperson & Assistant Professor, Centre for Human Rights & Duties, P.U.,  Mr. Vikram Singh, Chief of University Security, P.U., along with Security Guards, Ms. Priyanka Mittal, Guest Faculty, Centre for Police Administration, Ms. Daljit Kaur, Research Scholar of the Centre and students of M.A. Police Administration in large numbers.
