Dharamsala, March 28, 2023: Shalini Agnihotri IPS, the first woman SP officer of district Kangra, has made her intentions clear in dealing with the drug problem in the area. In a statement made on Tuesday after taking over her charge, Agnihotri expressed her commitment to preparing an action plan that involves all members of the community to make district Kangra drug-free. She also emphasized the need to increase police vigil in the border area of Punjab adjoining district Kangra.

Speaking to the media in Dharamsala, Agnihotri acknowledged that cybercrime and drugs are significant challenges for the police in today's era. She pledged to work in a phased manner to prevent such crimes and maintain law and order in the area. Kangra as the biggest district of Himachal Pradesh and an international city, Dharamshala requires strict measures to ensure safety and security.

Agnihotri's impressive career trajectory began with her 12th-grade education at DAV School in Dharamshala, followed by a degree in Agriculture from Himachal Pradesh Agricultural University, Palampur. In May 2011, she appeared in the UPSC exam and secured the 285th rank in All India in her very first attempt, opting for Indian Police Service (IPS). After training, she got her first posting as ASP in Kangra district and later served as SP in Kullu and Mandi.
