Shiv Nadar University Delhi-NCR and Sony India Conclude Photothon 2025 with Over 600 Participants and a Grand Prize of ₹1 Lakh

Shiv Nadar University, Delhi-NCR, in collaboration with Sony India, successfully concluded Photothon 2025 — the second edition of its flagship photography competition celebrating visual storytelling. The event attracted over 600 participants, bringing together aspiring photographers, industry experts and creative minds to showcase their talent through compelling imagery.

Greater Noida, March 27, 2025:  Shiv Nadar University, Delhi-NCR, in collaboration with Sony India, successfully concluded Photothon 2025 — the second edition of its flagship photography competition celebrating visual storytelling. The event attracted over 600 participants, bringing together aspiring photographers, industry experts and creative minds to showcase their talent through compelling imagery.

 

The competition featured diverse themes designed to challenge creativity and technical skill. A distinguished panel of judges, including Sameer Ashraf, Lead technical, SONY, Srishti Manchanda, Luxury Maternity & Family Photographer, SONY, Lakshya Chawla, Alpha Artisan, SONY and Prof. Amber Habib, School of Natural Sciences, Shiv Nadar University, Delhi-NCR evaluated entries based on composition, originality and storytelling impact. Vinayika Baijal secured the grand prize of ₹1 lakh, followed by Siddharth Sahu and Vidhi from Shiv Nadar University, Delhi-NCR with ₹50,000 each.

 

Brigadier Steve Ismail, Dean of Student Affairs at Shiv Nadar University, Delhi-NCR, remarked, "Photothon 2025 has not just been a competition but a celebration of creativity, perspective, and storytelling through the lens.” He praised the talent on display and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to fostering artistic expression."Participants explored a range of themes, including capturing the essence of Shiv Nadar University’s architecture in “Shapes & Identities,” highlighting biodiversity in “Nature as an Artist” and crafting dynamic narratives in "Photo Story – Capturing Action," he said.

 

Mukesh Srivastava, Head of Imaging Business (Professional & Consumer Cameras) at Sony Electronics, shared his thoughts on the competition, stating, “The ability to tell a powerful story through a single image is an art. Photothon has showcased incredible talent, and we at Sony are proud to support and encourage young photographers who are redefining visual storytelling. Competitions like these provide a vital platform for young talent to experiment, learn, and push the boundaries of their craft.”

 

Beyond the competition, Photothon 2025 featured exclusive workshops conducted by leading photography professionals, including Dr Shahi Shaika, Sameer Ashraf, Srishti Manchanda and Satinder Pal Singh Kalra. Covering topics such as storytelling through photography, macro photography, studio portrait techniques, travel and street photography, and fine art photography, these sessions provided participants with valuable insights and hands-on learning experiences.
