Jalandhar: The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar organised a webinar on Should Politics and Health Care go hand in hand: An analysis of COVID-19 Situation. Dr. Peeyush, Trauma and Joint Replacement Surgeon, Ganga Orthocare Hospital, Jalandhar and Mr. Ravinder Vasudeva, Principal Correspondent of Punjab Bureau of Hindustan Times joined this webinar as panellists and shared their valuable thoughts over this important and prevalent topic in the present scenario.
Principal Dr. Sucharita Sharma expressed her immense pleasure to have both the experts and sharing their valuable thoughts over this. She added that role of doctors and journalists is undoubtedly important in the current situation and to hear an insightful opinion from the experts itself will definitely give the right information to the public and they can protect themselves from this pandemic and at the same time ease themselves from the panic which is there due to this. She added though Politics and Health Care are two different domains but today in these times, all the domains need to come together and work to figure out the correct ways to deal with this crisis.
Various students of Journalism also joined this session and Ms. Navneet Kaur and Ms. Nayala Arora coordinated it smoothly. They asked various questions as well. 
They asked Dr. Peeyush about how the students and teachers can take care of themselves as we see the screen time has increased these days since everything takes place online. The students were also eager to hear a comment from Dr. Peeyush about the nation’s preparations and strategies in medical terms to deal with this pandemic, difference between self- isolation, quarantine and social distancing, the role of wearing masks and any special measures to be taken by senior citizens in order to protect themselves.
He replied very diligently and satisfactorily to all the questions. He explained the difference between the terms self- isolation, quarantine and social distancing which we hear everyday these days. He put forth that self isolation is when a person is isolated from others when symptoms of COVID-19 are found in him/her, quarantine is when the person has travelled from one place to another and in precautionary, the person is isolated from the rest of people and social distancing is when as per the guidelines of WHO, people maintain the gap of at least 1 meter from each other during any kind of communication. He added in this scenario of Online Classes, teachers and students should take breaks in between and make exercise the part of their life on regular basis. He added wearing masks is utmost necessary not only to protect ourselves but also others. Talking of the senior citizens, he added that proper care should be taken of them and they too should follow proper diet and avoid the gatherings.
On being asked to Mr. Ravinder Vasudeva if Punjab Government and Central Government are working together in order to curb this crisis, he responded in affirmation. Students also put forth that if in the upcoming elections COVID- 19 issue will be used as a political tool by the potential leaders and what will be the situation of nation after COVID-19 lifts up and its relations with other countries. Mr. Ravinder Vasudeva responded that definitely leaders are going to use the issue COVID-19 as a political tool and he added about the clear situation how it would be once the COVID lifts up and how the relations with other countries will be, nothing could be commented over that right now.
