Sidhu laid foundation stone of CHC at Sector-60, SAS Nagar

Chandigarh/ S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali): Health and Family Welfare Minister, Punjab S. Balbir Singh Sidhu here today laid the foundation stone of Community Health Centre at Sector-60, SAS Nagar. Accompanying him on this occasion was Member Lok Sabha Shri Manish Tewari.

S. Balbir Singh Sidhu said that under the leadership of Capt. Amarinder Singh, development works in Punjab are in full swing, as part of which the foundation stone of the Community Health Centre has been laid today. This health institution to be built at a cost of Rs. 13.40 crore shall provide better health facilities to the people of the area with modern services. This 40,000 sqft. Community Health Centre will have 24x7 emergency services as well as an OPD and diagnostic centre, blood storage room, training hall for 150 persons, state-of-the-art operation theatre, Mother-Child care ward, ladies and gents ward, private rooms, three-story hospital, CCTV security system and treatment plant and parking facility will be provided. The hospital will benefit the people of the area and facilitate them to obtain high-quality healthcare services near their homes.

S. Balbir Singh Sidhu said that Medical College is being set up in Mohali. He said, he started this project in 2013 with the help of the then Member Rajya Sabha, Mrs. Ambika Soni. As soon as he became the Health Minister, he started the work of setting up this medical college. He thanked the villages for donating 20 acres of land to which the government added another 14 acres of government land. A 500-bed hospital is in pipeline at the cost of Rs 375 crore.

Speaking on the occasion Lok Sabha member and Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari lauded the efforts of  S. Balbir Singh Sidhu for his perseverance in establishing this facility for the people of the area. He praised S. Balbir Singh Sidhu and said that Sidhu is a grass-root leader, who has earned the respect and love of people owing to his hard work and devotion towards their welfare. He did not stay at home even during the COVID pandemic and did his best to improve the Government Hospitals in Punjab by visiting various health institutions. He stated that he would also provide an ambulance equipped with modern facilities for the health department.

On the occasion, Director Health Services Punjab Dr. Manjeet Singh said that the Health Department, Punjab is making consistent efforts to improve health services. A community health centre is also being set up in Mohali by upgrading the dispensary. Civil Surgeon Dr. GB Singh welcomed the dignitaries present during the event. Meanwhile, Councillor S. Kuljit Singh Bedi thanked the Health Minister, Punjab for initiating the construction work of CHC keeping in view the welfare of the people. Councillor Mrs. Taranjit Kaur Gill expressed gratitude to all the guests.
