Sidhwan Canal Waterfront to be developed along canal from Dugri Bridge till Dhuri Line: Cabinet Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu
Says the project will cost of Rs 3 crore
Ludhiana: Punjab Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu today announced that under the third phase, Sidhwan Canal waterfront would be developed along the canal from Dugri Bridge till Dhuri Line with a cost of Rs 3 crore. He assured that the work on this project would start shortly.
Besides, the Cabinet Minister also announced that under the National Clean Air Programme, three new green belts and leisure valleys would be constructed in Ludhiana (West) constituency.
While visiting the site along the Sidhwan Canal where waterfront project would be constructed, Bharat Bhushan Ashu said that under the 3rd phase of this project, a waterfront would be developed from Dugri Road till Dhuri Line. He said that this around 800m stretch is lying useless at present, and when a waterfront is developed here with a cost of around Rs 3 crore, a large number of area residents would be benefitted as it would be used for morning/evening walk along with other leisure activities.
On this occasion he was also accompanied by senior Congress leader Kamaljit Singh Karwal and others. He said that the first phase of the Sidhwan Canal Waterfront project (around 1 km length from Ferozepur Road till Ferozepur Railway Line) with a cost of around Rs 4.74 crore is already near completion, while the work on the 1.6 km long second phase (from Jawaddi Bridge till Dugri Road) worth Rs 5.06 crore is underway.
He further stated that under the National clean air programme, 3 new green belts and leisure valleys would be constructed in Ludhiana (West) constituency, that include an environment friendly park at site of Barewal village pond, a green belt in Raghunath Enclave and another around 1 km long green belt along the Sua Road in Barewal area. He said that these 3 green belts and leisure valleys would be constructed with a cost of Rs 5.33 crore.
Accompanied by his wife and MC Councillor Mamta Ashu and MC Councillor Pankaj Kaka, he inaugurated a project related to re-carpeting and strengthening of roads in New Asha Puri, Sher-E-Punjab Colony, Modi Enclave, Canal Enclave and other adjoining areas in ward no 74 of the city. He said that this project is worth Rs 1.10 crore.
