Signature Global becomes 1st Real Estate Company to receive EDGE certificate in Delhi-NCR from IFC Team
Gurugram: Signature Global, a leader in affordable housing, added one more feather to its cap when it became the first real estate company in Delhi NCR to receive EDGE (Excellence in design for greater efficiencies) presented by International Finance Corporation (IFC). The EDGE preliminary certificate certifies Signature Global Park, Sector 36, Sohna, South of Gurugram, for its exemplifying achievement in 32% Energy savings, 52% water savings, and 53% less embodied Energy in Materials.
The International Finance Corporation, which is part of the World Bank, established EDGE, a green construction certification system. The certification aims to reduce the impact of buildings on the environment in terms of direct energy consumption, water consumption, and the energy footprint of construction materials. Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI) and the SGS-Thinkstep consortium are the two main organisations in charge of the EDGE certification globally.
“Buildings account for 19 per cent of all worldwide energy-related emissions and utilise 40% of all power. Electricity use has a significant environmental impact because most power systems still rely on fossil fuels. By 2050, the construction industry is predicted to double in size, with emerging markets accounting for most of the expansion. As a result, it is critical that we adhere to green practises to secure a brighter future. At Signature Global, we are dedicated to providing people with a high-quality lifestyle, and this award is a testimony of our sincere efforts,” says Pradeep Aggarwal, Founder & Chairman – Signature Global Group & Chairman - ASSOCHAM National Council on Real Estate, Housing and Urban Development. The EDGE accreditation is available in 160 countries. By February 2020, EDGE buildings had saved over 388 gigawatt-hours of energy and over 10 million cubic metres of water per year around the world.
Signature Global has been constantly engaged in taking care of the health of its residents and employees. Recently, the Group organized an hour-long yoga session to rejuvenate the lives of people attached to it, including the residents and employees. The Group has also been working tirelessly to stop the chain of COVID through vaccination drive for residents, staff and their family, and labor.
