Skill Development Centre to come up in Khatkar Kalan
DC takes stock of building, directs officials to complete required formalities in a week
Nawanshahr, May 23, 2022: With an aim to give major fillip to skill development in the district, the administration is set to start a skill development centre in Khatkar Kalan, the ancestral village of legendary martyr Shaheed Bhagat Singh in the coming days.
Taking stock of the building of community hall near Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Museum where the centre would operate, Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa said that the centre would focus on courses of skill development training, vocational training related to the nature and requirement of industry to the youth. He said that the centre would help to enhance the technical abilities of the youth hence they would be able to get maximum employment opportunities and would become self-reliant also.
He said that centre would play a key role in grooming the unemployed youth of nearby areas by sharpening their skills. Randhawa said that special focus would be laid on empowering the youth especially from the needy and underprivileged strata of the society by imparting quality training through such courses.
He further stated besides the skill training, the services of career guidance, counseling, and entrepreneurship development would be offered to the youth at the centre.
Deputy Commissioner directed the officials to complete all required formalities within a week so that the centre can be opened soon.
Prominent among present on the occasion included AAP senior leader Kuljit Sarhal, ADCs Jasbir Singh, Amit Sareen, District Employment Generation, skill development and training officer Sanjeev Kumar and others.
