SME participation to be key contributor for growth of industrial output: BCIC Leadership Forum
India will not meet its ESG standards unless SME Participate
Bengaluru, October 27, 2023… The inaugural edition of Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BCIC) Leadership Forum 2023-24 which was addressed by Geethanjali Kirloskar, Chairperson and Managing Director, Kirloskar Systems Pvt. Ltd. & Chairperson, Toyota Tsusho Insurance Broker India Pvt. Ltd and Dr. M. V. Rajeev Gowda, Former Member of parliament - Rajya Sabha & Chairman of the Congress Research Department echoed that SME participation and leadership are key contributors for the growth of industrial output. This is driven by the fact that organizations across the globe prefer to do business with companies that have a reputation for sustainability, and ethical governance hence it is important for businesses to be built around ethics and governance.
Delivering the inaugural address Geethanjali Kirloskar, Chairperson and Managing Director, Kirloskar Systems Pvt. Ltd. & Chairperson, Toyota Tsusho Insurance Broker India Pvt. Ltd said “SME’s account for 40% of the country’s industrial output employing more than 70 million people hence the growth of SME’s is going to a very critical part in the growth of the economy. This growth must be propelled by leadership that aligns with the objectives of the government and working in an honest and ethical manner. It is imperative that larger companies work with their suppliers in decarbonizing their value chain. Going forward, social consciousness will be a differentiating factor for businesses and leaders need to ensure strict adherence to ESG standards, failing which India will not be able to meet its ESG goals for 2030.”
Delivering a special address, Dr. M. V. Rajeev Gowda, Former Member of Parliament - Rajya Sabha & Chairman of the Congress Research Department said, “Industrial development has grown at a very fast pace from Bangalore to KGF and the region around K R Puram, Hoskote and Malur, the Narsapur Industrial Area, it is important for the government to work in tandem with industry to make the environment conducive to investment. For this to fructify, we need to develop and unleash synergies to tap into the talent that exists in the region. We need to create a platform where accomplished scientists, industrialists and others can share their vision and inspire others.”
The Leadership Forum was constituted under the Chairmanship of Dr. L Ravindran, Immediate Past President, BCIC. The monthly series is put together with an objective to learn from successful leaders, exchange best practices, explore effective leadership development strategies and understand policies and frameworks that can help catapult businesses to the next level.
