S.M.Eye Hospital Extends Vision Care: Over 15 free eye checkup camps benefit remote areas

Dharamshala, January 6, 2024: In a significant initiative, Dr. Sandeep Mahajan, Director, and Chief Surgeon of S.M. Eye Hospital Ghurkadi (Kangra) have conducted more than 15 free eye checkup camps in the past two months.
These camps aimed at providing eye care services to remote areas in both District Kangra and District Hamirpur. Panchayat areas like Haled, Boddha, Bhali, Ansui, Rait, Majhagran, Ladbada, Harsi, Manyada, Abahdevi, Nadaun, Sarakad, Byada, etc., were covered during these outreach programs.
The team from S.M. Eye Hospital Ghurkadi, including Ophthalmic Officer Amitabh Chhabra, Sunil Rana, Pranav Dadhwal, and supporting staff Ravinder Kumar and Suraj Prakash, conducted thorough eye examinations for approximately 1800 patients. Medicines required for identified diseases were distributed free of cost, reflecting the hospital's commitment to holistic eye care.
During these camps, various eye diseases, including cataract, glaucoma, and retina-related issues, were diagnosed. Patients with these conditions are now receiving treatment at Ghurkadi S.M. Eye Hospital in Kangra.
Dr. Sandeep Mahajan emphasized that patients below the poverty line or facing financial difficulties are receiving treatment under schemes like Him Care Health Insurance, Ayushman Bharat, and ECHS. He reiterated the primary goal of conducting free eye checkup camps across all districts in Himachal Pradesh, emphasizing the hospital's commitment to preserving the eyesight of every citizen in the state. Dr. Mahajan underscored the importance of preventing blindness and ensuring that no citizen is deprived of eyesight.
All the social workers and people of Panchayat areas thanked Dr. Sandeep Mahajan for organizing more than 15 free eye checkup camps.
