MX Player's series Dharavi Bank has been receiving rave reviews from its viewers and critics alike. Starring Suniel Shetty, Sonali Kulkarni and Vivek Anand Oberoi, this political-crime thriller is directed by Samit Kakkad. Sonali Kulkarni plays the role of Chief Minister Janvi Surve in the series.
Sonali says that, unlike Janvi, she is not a manipulative, tough woman. She adds, “I do not have a conspiratorial mind; I am a woman with very simple and transparent nature."
Sonali revealed how enacting the character of Janvi is not about looking good, wearing a designer saree or smiling on screen but about understanding the character and constantly 'opening files' in her mind.
Expressing her perception of Asia's biggest slum Dharavi which is central to the series’ narrative, Sonali said, "As an actress, I feel fortunate as I can visit many places. While people know Dharavi as Asia's biggest slum, it is also the place of the cleanest hearts and has the hardest working people."
Sharing her experience of working with Suniel Shetty and Vivek Oberoi, Sonali said, “I don't have a single scene with Suniel Sir, we just talk on the phone. But, I can always say that working with him is a pleasure. As a person, he is very caring; You feel like he is a real Anna in the team. With Vivek, it was one of those dream come true moments for me as an actor, as I have loved him in various roles. He has been a romantic as well as an action hero. When you are experienced in the industry, you allow people to have their quirks, so I don't expect much from other stars. But, to my surprise, Vivek was completely committed and enthusiastic. He is so committed, knows his craft & the camera well that his discipline to be the best rubbed off on me to give my best too!"
