Sony SAB’s mythological drama Dharm Yoddha Garud has been fascinating its viewers with the opulent tales of the mighty Garud and his brave deeds. The upcoming episodes will be a massive highlight for audiences as they witness the story of how Garud was chosen to be the vahak of Lord Vishnu.
It is held that Garuda earned the privilege of an eternal service to the Lord through his devotion, humility, and prowess. Irked by the slavery of Kadru and wanting to free his mother from the shackles of this oppression, Garud proceeds to claim the amrit (holy nectar) from the celestials. A fierce battle ensues with the devtas and Garud and he finally obtains the amrit. On his way back to the Naga’s abode he is encountered by Lord Vishnu, who in an attempt to test Garud, tempts him to consume two drops of the amrit which will promise him immortality and power. But Garud refuses to consume it as his sole purpose is to hand the amrit to Kadru who in return has promised Vinata freedom from her slavery. Appeased by his selfless act, Vishnu bestows Garud with a boon of immortality and in addition requests him to be his vahana to which Garuda willingly agrees.
Talking about this amazing narrative of the show Faisal Khan who essays the character of Garud said, “Garud’sencounter with Lord Vishnu on his way to the Naga’s holding the amrit has been etched in golden words in mythology. This is his biggest test, and his purpose of life will gradually unravel from this point on. Although faced by temptation,Garud has always been true to his virtues and devotion. I feel extremely humbled to have played such a character that has completely changed the way I have perceived mythology.”
