Seasoned actor Sooraj Thapar is winning hearts as Rajat’s (Aakash Ahuja) father Bishan Khanna in Sony SAB’s ‘Badall Pe Paon Hai’. As the heart of the Khanna family, Suraj's character is known for his friendly banter with his mother, coming up with his creative “jugaadu" fixes for problems.
Sooraj recently took on a new look to play his own father and Rajat’s grandfather, for a particular track in the show. With a white beard, moustache, turban and adding his own touches like a fake tummy, and puffed-up cheeks, Sooraj Thapar looked so unrecognizable that even the cast and crew were fooled. Embracing his disguise, Suraj decided to have some fun behind the scenes. Pretending to be a senior citizen visiting the set, he managed to trick Jaswant Daman, who plays his mother in the show. In a hilarious moment, he pretended to be a fan on the sets and took a selfie with her, leaving everyone in splits when he finally revealed his true identity.
Sooraj Thapar, who essays the role of Bishan Khanna, said, “I like to keep the environment on set light and positive. I enjoy pranking others and when I got a chance to pull my co-stars’ legs, I just grabbed it. The transformation to an older man was so convincing that my creative director didn’t recognize me at all and addressed me like a stranger. That’s when I knew the look was a success. To have a bit of fun, I decided to prank “Biji”, and as I approached her she thought I was an elderly man on set. We even clicked a picture and she was completely unaware it was me. We all had a big laugh when everyone realized the quirky old man roaming around the sets was me.”
