South Africa team arrives at Dharamshala to play first T20 of series
Dharamshala, September 9, 2019: South African cricket team has arrived today evening at Dharamshala to play the first T20 match of the series against India here on Sunday.
The team shall have net session for the next 4 days here. After landing at the Gaggal airport of the city, team straightway headed towards the hotel.
HPCA spokesperson Sanjay Sharma said, “The Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association is all set to host the T20 match here. Dharamshala is hosting any international match here after a gap of two years. The ground and pitch is ready. 40% of the tickets have already been sold and we expect a full capacity crowed in the lovely weather of Dharamshala on 15th September. The match shall start at 7pm. Indian team is expected to reach Dharamshala on 13th September.”
Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium (HPCA Stadium), is a picturesque cricket stadium located in the city of Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh. The town of Dharamshala is best known internationally as the home of the Dalai Lama of Tibet. The picturesque venue is unique in India as it is situated at an altitude of 1,457 m above the sea level and has the snow-capped Dhouladhar Ranges of Himalayas in the background. The first international team that played in this ground was the Pakistani cricket team, when they played a warm-up match against an India A side in 2005. First T20 played here was between India and South Africa –on October 2, 2015 and the Last T20 was played between Australia and New Zealand on March 18, 2016. The stadium has hosted 1 Test, 4 ODIs and 8 T20Is to date.
