South Eastern Railway, Kolkata with the winning trophy with the organisers of the 16th All India Mahinder Partap Singh Grewal Hockey Tournament at the Pirthipal Singh Hockey Stadium in the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) grounds at Ludhiana on Tuesday.

Ludhiana, January 22, 2013: South Eastern Railway, Kolkata won the 16th All India Mahinder Partap Singh Grewal Hockey Tournament at the Pirthipal Singh Hockey Stadium in the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) grounds here on Tuesday.

In the finals played today, Rukmani of South Eastern Railway managed to thrash a field goal in the 46th minute of the game, which led to the team victorious against SAI Center, Sonipat.

On the concluding day, Punjab Minister, Bikram Singh Majithia, was the chief guest.

In his address, Majithia said the state government had increased the sports budget from Rs. 16 crores to Rs. 100 crores for further promotion of the sports activities across Punjab.

It may be mentioned here that a total eight teams participated in the tournament.

The winners were given prize money Rs. 70,000 followed by Rs. 40,000 to first runners-up and Rs. 15,000 to the second runners-up.

The winners were also given trophies.
