Noida, June 25 (HS): Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, slammed the Samajwadi Party for attending a conference of Opposition parties in Patna to form unity against the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, saying the Akhilesh Yadav-led party is a "expert in Chipko Andolan."

BJP leader Adityanath was speaking at a public event in Gautam Buddh Nagar's Noida, where he unveiled 124 development projects costing over Rs 1,719 crore in Noida and Greater Noida.

When the Samajwadi Party, the Rashtriya Lok Dal, the Janata Dal (United), and others claiming to be followers of JP (socialist icon Jayaprakash Narayan) collaborate with those (Congress) who trampled democracy, the public sees how they tried to conceal their misdeeds and corruption," he said.

"There is a long history of the Samajwadi Party. As in 2004, they provided their support to Congress without being asked. Despite the fact that the Congress did not want their cooperation, the Samajwadi Party imposed it. This party is a 'Chipko Andolan' expert," Adityanath stated.

"The Samajwadi Party has done it before, and they've done it again this time. But, brothers and sisters, we must maintain our good attitude and continue our growth path," he said during the ceremony. The Chipko Movement was a nonviolent campaign launched in 1973 by local villages in present-day Uttarakhand to protect and save trees in response to rising deforestation. In an effort to conserve the trees, residents, including women, embraced them.

"I have simply come today with that message. The perception in Gautam Buddh Nagar has shifted in the previous six years. Major infrastructural development is underway, money are pouring in, and Noida and Greater Noida are prepared to rule the globe. In the last six years, this district has given Uttar Pradesh a new identity," he stated. On June 23, a combined conference of more than a dozen political groups was convened in Patna, Bihar, and they vowed to take against the BJP together in the 2024 general elections.
