SPEAK India to organise health literacy competition & literary festival

Chandigarh, March 13, 2019: In order to promote healthy lifestyle and wellness among the people as well as to stimulate literary spirit in students & people at large, the not-for-profit, Society for Promotion of Ethical & Affordable Healthcare, SPEAK India, is going to organise a one-of-a-kind 'health literacy competition and literary festival' in the city. Organisers of the pioneering event Dr R Kumar, President, SPEAK, India, Anjali Kapoor, Vice Principal, Saravhitkari School, Sec 40 D which is the venue partner of the event , R K Garg, Secretary, Lions Club which is also associated with event and Anil Sharma, Executive Member, SPEAK interacted with media at the Press Club here, to share details of the health literacy competition & literary festival.

"The competition is open to all. Students and people interested are invited to participate in the event. This will entail inviting essays from the students & residents interested to write on the topic of the competition - 'Ayushman Bharat: Wellness is a journey to healthy India'. The participants are to submit their essays in English on or before March 25, 2019 to Mrs. Anjali Kapoor, Vice Principal, Saravhitkari School, Sec 40 D, Chandigarh. The reference book for the purpose is ‘New India’s Ayushman Bharat’ published by Aggawal Parkashan, Vikas Vihar, Ambala City and Mr. Manish Singla. " said, Dr R Kumar, President, SPEAK India while talking to media persons.

"The literary festival will be held on April 6, 2019, to mark the World Health Day at Sarvhitkari School, Sector 40 D, Chandigarh under the overall supervision of Mr B.S.Kanwar, the Director. " Said Anjali Kapoor.

Dr Kumar further said, "The essay will be in English language of up to 1000 words. Prizes will be given in 3 age groups - 21 years and above (teachers, journalists, research scholars etc), 18 -21 years (college students), and less than 18 years(school students)."

"The Prize money will be Rs 10, 7, 5 thousand respectively for the best candidates in each of the categories mentioned, as decided by the learned jury. If suitable competition does not exist in any category, the prize may be withdrawn. Jury will be asked to give its verdict by March 31." Added R K Garg, Secretary, Lions Club.

Dr Kumar said, "This event also aims at promoting journalistic instinct in the community. All the participants of essay writing and their teachers/ families will be invited at a literary festival on April 6, where toppers will be asked to speak and the winners will be given cash prizes. Certificates will be given to each participant. Besides the judges some top journalist/intellectual/Health expert will be invited to speak."

It is noteworthy that Government of India (GOI’s) Ayushman Bharat Scheme aims at providing health for all citizens of the country in the long run, starting with less privileged families.
