Ludhiana, August 17, 2024: On the directions of the State Election Commission (SEC), the district administration will run a special campaign for updation of the Panchayat Electoral Roll.
The campaign will be held on August 20, 21 and 22 for receiving forms No. 1, II and III, for new votes, deleting and amending votes respectively.
The final publication of electoral rolls had already been made on January 7, 2024 on the basis of eligibility date January 1, 2023. The final publication of these voter lists had been done by the respective Electoral Registration Officers (SDMs) by the date December 29, 2023 after receiving claims and objections from the general public and disposing of them on January 5, 2024.
Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney Stated that in order to maintain the sanctity of electoral rolls and to ensure that all eligible voters now get their names registered in the electoral rolls, Election Registration Officers (SDMs) are also receiving objections from the general public on every working day. She highlighted that the general public falling within the limits of the respective Gram Panchayats can submit Form No. 1, for casting votes, Form No. II, for any objection/withdrawal of votes and Form No. III, for Amendment (for change of address or amendment of address or any other amendment), with EROs/SDMs on these dates.
Sawhney urged the people that these forms are available in the offices of all Election Registration Officers (SDMs) or can also be downloaded from the Commission's website sec.punjab.gov.in.
