Special Lecture and Interactive Session on Women’s Rights: Inspiring Inclusion – Celebrating International Women’s Day

Chandigarh, March 7, 2025: The Center for Women Development (CWD) at the University Institute of Legal Studies, Panjab University, today hosted a Special Lecture and Interactive Session to celebrate International Women’s Day. Indian Express Resident Editor Ms. Manraj Grewal was the chief guest at the programme themed “Women’s Rights: Inspiring Inclusion.” She inspired the audience with powerful examples, urging continued advocacy for gender equality, and shared insights on the critical issue of paid gender disparity. UILS Director Prof. (Dr.) Shruti Bedi, emphasised women’s role in societal progress.
An Interactive session allowed students to engage with the Chief Guest, addressing various concerns. The event concluded with the felicitation of winners from the week’s competitions.
Earlier, the event commenced with an opening by Teacher Coordinator Ms. Tania, who highlighted the day’s significance and the CWD’s week-long celebrations, including competitions and workshops such as Judgment Analysis, Self-Defense, and Extempore. Prof. Anupam Bahri, CWD Teacher Coordinator, delivered a thank-you note, appreciating the contributions of all participants and coordinators.
The event successfully highlighted the importance of fostering gender equality, inclusion, and empowering women in all aspects of life. The success of the session was attributed to the efforts of Prof. Anupam Bahri, event head Sandali, and student coordinators Pooja Malik, Sejal, Aashish Boora, and the entire CWD team.
