Chandigarh, March 10, 2025: Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), Panjab University, Chandigarh, organised a Special Lecture on Awareness of Rights of Women at Workplace to mark International Women’s Day. Surender Kumar, Member Secretary, State Legal Services Authority, Chandigarh, delivered the keynote address, attended by around 80 students, faculty, and non-teaching staff.
Prof. Harsh Gandhar, Director, CDOE, emphasised gender equality, while Prof. Madhurima Verma, Presiding Officer, ICC, discussed the role of ICCs in ensuring workplace safety. Sh. Surender Kumar elaborated on the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2013, and Domestic Violence Act, 2005, stressing legal remedies and institutional support.
The session concluded with an interactive discussion, fostering legal awareness and gender sensitisation. The event reinforced Panjab University’s commitment to women’s rights and workplace safety.
