Special Lecture on Data Analysis and Visualization using MS Excel and Al Exploration for Academia and Research

Chandigarh, September 23, 2024: Department of Library & Information Science, Panjab University, Chandigarh, today organized a special lecture on “Data Analysis and Visualization using MS-Excel” and “Al Exploration for Academia and Research”. 

Dr. Sudhir Goyal, System Manager, Panjab University, Chandigarh delivered the lecture. All the faculty members, research scholars, and students of the Bachelor of Library and Information Science and Master of Library and Information Science participated in the special lecture. 

At this event, Dr. Sudhir Goyal shared his thoughts about how MS Excel can be a valuable tool in collecting, organising, and processing raw data. He introduced various Excel tools for statistical analysis, such as descriptive statistics, regression analysis, and pivot tables. 

Dr. Sudhir Goyal also explained on how AI technologies, including machine learning and natural language processing, are increasingly integrated into academic research to automate data processing and improve efficiency in research activities, etc. It was followed by student discussion on the topic. 

Earlier, the Chairperson of the department, Prof. Rupak Chakravarty, introduced the achievements of Dr. Sudhir Goyal. 

The session marked by a commendable turnout, successfully heightened awareness and engaged students in understanding the usage of MS-Excel, the emerging role of AI in academic institutions and research and the importance of analysing data and data analytics and types of data.
