Special lecture on “HIV AIDS Awareness Among Youth” at PU
Centre for Public Health in collaboration with Red Ribbon Club, Chandigarh conducted a special lecture on “HIV AIDS Awareness Among Youth” on Tuesday.
Chandigarh, March 5, 2024: Centre for Public Health in collaboration with Red Ribbon Club, Chandigarh conducted a special lecture on “HIV AIDS Awareness Among Youth” on Tuesday.
50 participants attended the lecture in the Seminar Hall of the Centre for Public Health, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Bharti Sharma (Assistant Professor, HPGDC, Shimla) along with Dr. Rajesh Biswas (Associate Professor, Home Science College Sector 10, Chandigarh). Dr. Komal Sehgal, Coordinator, Centre for Public Health and Dr. Manoj Kumar, Assistant Professor, Centre for Public Health appreciated
the efforts of resource person and enthusiasm of students.
In light of the same, a Walkathon was organised with slogans being rhymed as "Aids hai jaanleva bimari, isse mitana hai hum sab ki Jimedari" and "Jan- Jan ne Thana hai, Vishwas se aids mitana hai." to educate masses about HIV / AIDS with slogans like. The route was strategically planned from the Student Centre, Panjab University to Sector 14 market area.
In this event the students wore Red ribbons which symbolised; "Passion and Tolerance"-to those affected and pain suffered by those who have died of AIDS. It also represented anger over the helplessness we are facing for a disease, which still has no cure and lastly a sign of warning to not carelessly ignore one of the biggest problems of our time.
