Special Lecture on “Hypothesis: Concept, Role and Applications” and “Hypothesis Testing using Statistical Packages” 

Department of Library & Information Science, Panjab University(PU), Chandigarh, today organized a special lecture on “Hypothesis: Concept, Role and Applications”AND “Hypothesis Testing using Statistical Packages” at Lecture Hall-I. Dr. Nitin Arora from PU Economics Department delivered the lecture where all the faculty members, research scholars, and students of the Bachelor of Library and Information Science and Master of Library and Information Science were present.

Chandigarh, October 22, 2024: Department of Library & Information Science, Panjab University(PU), Chandigarh, today organized a special lecture on “Hypothesis: Concept, Role and Applications”AND “Hypothesis Testing using Statistical Packages” at Lecture Hall-I. Dr. Nitin Arora from PU Economics Department delivered the lecture where all the faculty members, research scholars, and students of the Bachelor of Library and Information Science and Master of Library and Information Science were present. 

Dr. Nitin Arora began his lecture by giving an overview of Hypotheses, and types of hypotheses then continued with the types of data and different sampling techniques. Further, he reflected his thoughts about measures of central tendency i.e. Mean, median, and mode, which are used to summarise a set of data with a single number. Additionally, he shared his thoughts about Statistical Software like Python, R-Statistics and SPSS. In the end, Dr. Nitin Arora demonstrated the statistical software SPSS and how to use this software in research work. 

Earlier, Chairperson of the department, Prof. Rupak Chakravarty, briefed the achievements of Dr. Nitin Arora followed by an elaborate introduction by Anupama, a student of BLIS, on behalf of Library Science Department. The event ended with an interactive session and discussion between the students and the resource person.
