Special lecture on “Making A Sense Through Science Mapping Tools and Techniques” and “From Open Access to Open Knowledge: A Journey from Pass to the Future

Chandigarh, January 10, 2025: Department of Library & Information Science, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, organised a special lecture on “Making A Sense Through Science Mapping Tools and Techniques” and “From Open Access to Open Knowledge: A Journey from Pass to the Future by Prof. Dinesh Kumar Gupta. He is Sr. Professor in the Department of Library & Information Science at the Central University of Haryana, Mahendragarh. All the faculty members, research scholars, and students of the Bachelor of Library and Information Science and Master of Library and Information Science participated in the event.

 

In the beginning, the Chairperson of the department, Prof. Rupak Chakravarty, introduced the achievements of Prof. Dinesh Kumar Gupta. Ms. Archana Kamboj, a student of BLIS introduced and welcomed the resource person on the behalf of Library Science Department.

 

Today’s resource person, Prof. Dinesh Kumar Gupta.  began his lecture by giving an overview of Open Access, open access publishing and models of open access.Further, he discussed the open access repository and OER (open educational resource). He explained the topics with specific references from Shrimad Bhagwat Gita. He provided knowledge of open cultures, Data Journals and open scientific knowledge. The event ended with an interactive session and discussion between the students and the resource person.
