Chandigarh, February 13, 2023: University Institute of Legal Studies in collaboration with UGC-HRDC Panjab University, Chandigarh organized a Special Lecture on Reservation for EWS via Basic Structure Doctrine, under 103rd Constitutional Amendment: A Juridical critique of 5 Judge bench judgment of Supreme Court in Janhit Abhiyan vs. Union of India. The key speaker was Prof. Virender Kumar, Professor Emeritus, Department of Laws. The other esteemed guests included Hon’ble Justice Ashok Bham, Prof. Alok Srivastva, Prof. D.N Jawhar, Prof, Pragya, Prof R.P Gupta and Prof. Rupinder Tewari.
The lecture drew distinguished audience from various departments of the University. The speaker lucidity elucidated upon the 103rd Constitutional Amendment and the basic structure doctrine. Along with it, a critical analysis of the judgement was presented. The lecture was followed by an illuminating question-answer session. The session ended with presentation of mementoes to the esteemed guests by Prof. Rajinder Kaur and Prof. Jayanti Dutta.
