The Department of Library and Information Science, Panjab University, Chandigarh, today organised special lectures on “The Smart Library: How AI is Revolutionising Library services” and “Publishing Qualitative Research: Best Practices and the Threat of Predatory Journals” by Prof. Sangita Gupta.

Chandigarh: The Department of Library and Information Science, Panjab University, Chandigarh, today organised special lectures on “The Smart Library: How AI is Revolutionising Library services” and “Publishing Qualitative Research: Best Practices and the Threat of Predatory Journals” by Prof. Sangita Gupta.
Prof. Sangita Gupta from the Department of Library and Information Science, University of Jammu, was the resource person.
In the first lecture, Prof. Sangita Gupta discussed qualitative research methodologies and raised awareness about the increasing threat of predatory journals. She shared best practices for conducting ethical and rigorous research and provided guidance on identifying credible journals and avoiding deceptive publishers.
In the second lecture, Prof. Sangita Gupta explored the transformative role of AI in libraries, focusing on technologies like machine learning, natural language processing, and chatbots. She emphasised the need for library professionals to embrace digital innovation and adapt to the evolving information landscape.
Earlier, the chairperson of the department Prof. Rupak Chakravarty welcomed the resource person and participants. All the faculty members, research scholars, and students of the Bachelor of Library and Information Science and Master of Library and Information Science participated in the event. Ms. Anchal, a student of BLIS introduced and welcomed the resource person on the behalf of Library and information Science Department. The event concluded with an interactive session, where students engaged in a meaningful discussion with the resource person, gaining deeper insights into the lecture themes.
