Special lecture on topic ‘Anxiety Causes and Mental Health Action’ 

The Department of Community Education and Disability Studies today organised a special lecture on the topic ‘Anxiety Causes and Mental Health Action’. Clinical Psychologist from Government Multi Specialty Hospital Sector-16, Chandigarh, Dr. Neeraj Kumar delivered the lecture.

Chandigarh, November 28, 2024: The Department of Community Education and Disability Studies today organised a special lecture on the topic ‘Anxiety Causes and Mental Health Action’. Clinical Psychologist from Government Multi Specialty Hospital Sector-16, Chandigarh, Dr. Neeraj Kumar delivered the lecture. 

Dr. Neeraj explained the anxiety attack is an episode of extreme alarm that can cause physical symptoms like a racing heart, shortness of breath, feeling faint, dizzy, light headed and feelings of panic. Further, resource person introduced some activities to manage and deal anxiety situations like wise-tapping, affirmation, deep breathing, walk and described the nerves system that affects like, sympathetic and parasympathetic. Moreover, he practically exercised ‘Emotional Freedom Therapy’ with all participants.  This therapy may be used to reduce the anxiety level of children with special needs.

Earlier, the session started with a welcome address from Dr. Md. Saifur Rahman, Chairperson of the Department, and introduced the speaker Dr. Neeraj Kumar Clinical Psychologist from Government Multi Specialty Hospital Sector-16, Chandigarh. The session was very useful for all the participants. All the faculty members: Professor (Dr.) Navleen Kaur, Professor (Dr.) Anuradha Sharma, Nitin Raj, and Taukir Alam were present. The lecture ended with a vote of thanks given by Nitin Raj.
