Special lecture on topic “Climatic Change” in Seminar Hall of USOL PU
University School of Open Learning, Panjab University, Chandigarh organised a special lecture in the Department on the topic “Climatic Change” delivered by Prof. Simrit Kahlon, Department of Geography, Panjab University, Chandigarh today in the Seminar Hall of the USOL.
Chandigarh, September 22, 2022: University School of Open Learning, Panjab University, Chandigarh organised a special lecture in the Department on the topic “Climatic Change” delivered by Prof. Simrit Kahlon, Department of Geography, Panjab University, Chandigarh today in the Seminar Hall of the USOL. In consonance with the spirit of “Sewa Pakhawara : Aatma Nirbhar Bharat” Prof Neeru, Chairperson of USOL welcomed the speaker and audience.
Prof. Simrit Kahlon, talked about climate change and its repercussions for the human life on this planet earth. Interestingly she said that climate change will not harm mother earth if we take due care of it by adopting certain strategies like:
• Planting more endemic trees (local) and not the exotic variety.
• Creating more carbon sinks to absorb the carbon foot print by restoring to solar energy.
• Planning needs to be done at the local level by thinking locally and not following global trends.
The session ended by taking up queries of the researchers and faculty. The session was handled by Dr. Sucha Singh. The session was chaired by the Chairperson Prof. Neeru, Dr. Kamla introduced the speaker and Prof Geeta Bansal proposed the vote of thanks.
